Puentes ESOL Classes
Puentes de Salud has developed a three-level ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) curriculum in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. An interdisciplinary group of Puentes de Salud volunteers teaches the classes using curricular materials developed specifically for the South Philadelphia Latino community.
Puentes ESOL class is offered to adult language learners at no cost. We focus on pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Our goal is to equip students with the skills and confidence to speak and write English in every day settings.
Classes offered Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Financial Literacy Classes
Building Bridges to Wealth has partnered with Puentes to bring financial literacy to the Latino community of South Philadelphia. This business literacy program was created by Dr. Keith Weigelt at the Wharton School of Business. The program is built on three modules: entrepreneurship, finance, and leadership. “Participants develop leadership and business skills whether they strive to be entrepreneurs or simply want to create more opportunities for themselves in the workplace.”
The curriculum gives participants business knowledge, and then offers wealth building programs to apply the learning. Classes teach our community to improve management of personal finances including budgets, credit score, investments etc. Upon completion of the classes, participants are invited to take part in the second phase of the program, Communities of Wealth. In this phase participants learn about micro-investing, micro-financing, and savings groups. To learn more about the program visit: http://buildingbridgestowealth.org/
Classes offered by advance registration only.
